Yet ANOTHER damaged stove...

That's a sad story about Matty. I think that the porcelain can handle all kinds of normal use, but moving and restoring exposes it to new and harsher stresses. Sharp impacts are the worst. Too bad the backsplash chipped and not the side panel which is easier to hide.

On the upside, if you decide to replace your backsplash, there are a lot of white ones out there to choose from. I'm not sure that my choosing a colored stove was one of my wisest moves. They're hard to locate. I'm sure you could find a good backsplash out there and put Matty right again. She's coming along beautifully, by the way! Nice chrome top.

As for my greenie, the seller knocked the cost of the replacement backsplash right off the selling price, so as long as it looks like a good one, I'll be heading out to pick everything up as soon as I can make arrangements. I'm really pleased with this seller. He's been very good to deal with, and he's happy that this stove will live on.

I don't know off hand if they have one in stock or not but if they do and you are willing to ship from Cincinnati I can check out the stoves for you. Give them a call and see what they may have.

Hi NCG,

Thank you for the offer. I think that my current stove leads will work out. Actually I already paid for the stove when I got it on eBay, the chipped porcelain problem shoped up the day before I went to go pick it up.

Now that I have an intact backsplash lined up, and the seller is willing to refund me the cost of the replacement, I think I'm all set. Unless, that is, Treatmaker sees something tomorrow to kill the backsplash portion of the project.

Virginia (Treatmaker) is my Chambers hero of the week. Tura (Robbiquest) was last week's hero! Honestly, this site is frequented by a great group of people.
